Adam and Rachel in their enormous student house in Newcastle. Thanks for the tea and fresh bread. We hope you don't miss each other too much when Rachel shoots off to China again. Maybe Ray Jardine will keep you company Adam??
Hi, this blog was set up after we quit our jobs and sold our house for a campervan in 2006 in the search for a better work life balance and a greener lifestyle - a liberating work in progress! We took some time out in the beautiful hills of the UK and completed a sponsored walk/backpack from Land's End to John O'Groats before working at Forest Holidays then later as freelance rangers. Hadrian's Wall
Finally bought a digital camera, that water resistant, freeze proof one off the telly, so hopefully easier than the disposable one!
We caught up with Adam and Rachel, our friends who we met along the Pennine Way on our Land's End to John O'Groats walk last year. As they are studying in Newcastle we got to see the impressive and rusty Angel of the North. We all had a day walk along Hadrian's Wall, it rained of course, but that brought all our soggy summer memories back. It was nice to go back to a warm van this time, rather than a wet tent and Will cooked a lovely bolognase.

Christmas 2007 and New Year
Had a nice family Christmas at home, then shot up to Wasdale in the Lakes for a quiet and windy New Year. Same as last year, the weather was howling but still a brilliant place to be. Thankfully not too busy considering all the hype there when it won 'Britain's best view'. The Wasdale Head Inn has now brewed a new ale since winning, plus another which is named after the walking magazine 'Trail'. They need a 'TGO' one too then!
Came back down South for Mum's 60th Birthday on 11th, before going back up north again!
